Yes, U.S. survival manuals have a lot of problems and some wrong information. They still have useful information and give you a base to see who copied from this open source.

(The army manual is also good, don't get hung up on the Manual number. The AF 64-3 has a nice section on Navigation others do not. Some have color plates)

This is one book of many.  Some people put Angier down, He was one of the first to write about wilderness survival. Many of the books are re-rights of previous volumes. This one covers a lot of area. I think he is a great writer.
